The people are great, restaurant is good. But the hotel overall is pretty run down. If you don't care for smoking, I'd pick a different spot. There is a lot of smoking and lingering smoke at all the entrances.
This hotel is showing its age. We booked a room for one night and it was alright but found old food in the fridge and old keys in the drawer. Something stuck to my foot when walking around the room. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling off the wall. And this was in a tower room, which is the newest part of the hotel. Bridges, the restaurant, has always been excellent but this time all 3 of our meals came out incredibly dry and mine was burnt. Next time we are in town we will give the Hampton Inn a try.
Great location, 10-15min walk to the harbour. Downtown Sarnia has a great selection of restaurants within a 15min radius. There are two pools at this location, on indoor and one out door. The staff was friendly and service was good. Standard holiday inn experience.
My partner and I reserved a block of rooms for our wedding and Janice made it a seamless experience. Even when some of our guests approached quite late, after our block expired, Janice managed to accommodate them. We also received two free nights for our bookings, despite being under our target for guest room nights Incredibly accommodating and highly recommended for anyone planning a wedding!
The saving grace for this place is the convenient location (although Sarnia is small and easy to get around) and the very friendly and helpful staff at the hotel and restaurant. The attached restaurant is good. Our room had a smell and the air seemed thick and stagnant - you can't open windows to get fresh air. On that note, all the entrances reek of cigarettes, as people are smoking by them constantly. I also recommend if you're not out of the room by 7:30am or so to use your privacy door hanger, as house keeping came for us around 8am every day - which would suck if you were still sleeping or in shower getting ready. Beds are not very comfortable. But depending on your budget and expectations it could be just fine.
